The role of the Packaging laboratory of Nestlé's Research Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland, is to provide Nestlé R&D centres and application groups with state of the art scientific support on Packaging issues. Two main competence axes are defined: Packaging safety and packaging performance. The work of the laboratory mainly consists in technological watch, method development and scientific support, although some development work is performed in association with research institutes and academia.

The Quality and safety department and all its laboratories are accredited according to ISO 17025: Testing laboratory for chemical, physical and microbiological analyses of food products and their packaging.

The laboratory regularly welcomes student for training periods.
